What is Naturopathy? A system of alternative medicine based on the theory that diseases can be successfully treated or prevented without the use of drugs, by techniques such as control of diet, exercise, and massage.

Beauty is not always about the things we buy or the clothing we wear. An important part of beauty is diet, exercise, and emotions. These forms of beauty can be easily achieved through naturopathic remedies. How we treat and care for our body reflects in our beauty. Learn more from my favourite Naturopath on making the right nutritional choices to have a well-nourished, beautifully healthy body.

A clean diet is essential to your beauty. The foods we eat provide the body with vitamins and minerals to help keep us healthy and beautiful. With a limit amount of calorie intake it’s important to pack your diet with lots of foods with maximum nutrition factor.

Beauty foods:

Avocados: An excellent source of biotin, which helps to prevent dry skin and brittle hair and nails. This means longer moisturized skin as well as longer hair and nails.

Salmon: Salmon contains astaxanthin, which improves skins elasticity. Meaning fewer wrinkles.

Walnuts: Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, Omega-3s makes skin smoother and younger looking.

Switching some of your everyday items can be easy by finding a good alternative choice. Here are a few examples of to take household staples and replace them with foods that maximize nutrition.

Almond butter vs. Peanut butter

Almond Butter:

By eating almonds or almond butter, you get vitamin E, potassium, magnesium, iron, calcium and phosphorus. Almonds are a good fiber source and also contain protein.

Peanut Butter:

Dairy Ice Cream vs. Coconut Milk Ice Cream

Dairy Ice Cream:

Ice cream can have many health benefits such as source of vitamins A, B-6, B-12, C, D, and E however ice cream is packed with sugar and fat.

Ice cream with the use of Coconut milk instead is a great alternative option for ice cream. With much less sugar, Coconut milk ice cream also contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) identical to those in human breast milk; coconut milk has similar germ fighting and heart-protective properties. People who commonly have trouble digesting fat, such as those with a slow metabolism, coconut fat actually stimulates metabolism.

Potato Chips:

Potato chips have no nutritional factor after being fried and salted.

An alternative option to potato chips is vegetable chips, preferably made from Beets and Sweet potato. Sweet potatoes are now as the worlds healthiest food packed with vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, manganese, biotin, phosphorus, potassium, and many more. Sweet potato helps during the aging process. Madisha I really enjoyed reading your blog post! It was very informative of which foods have great impact on the body and all of the nutritional benefits they contain. I recently have been finding myself interested in feeding my body healthy and clean foods that will ultimately give me the nutrition I need; allowing for more energy and radiant skin. I love the idea of feeding your body with high nutritional super foods that are good for the brain, skin and the overall growth and digestion in the body. Overall it makes you feel good from the inside and out. I have a sensitive stomach towards processed foods but when I eat high nutritional foods like you mentioned, salmon and avocado, I feel great. This is another reason why I love making the right decision with my food and why everyone should.

Also, I love the free treatment that comes with healthy foods. Like you mentioned in your post, with the right foods, you can help prevent diseases. When I am suffering from a cold, I will try to stay away from the doctor and feed my body with fruits, vegetables and lots of liquids in order for my body to fight off the virus on its own. Food can do so many wonders to our body and it should never be underestimated.

Do you have a favourite drink that provides you with many nutrients and benefits? I personally like to drink warm lemon water in the mornings to detox the body. It also fights against diseases and rich in vitamin C along with many other benefits on the body.

Here is a link that lists the many benefits of lemon water, and also the many beauty benefits it provides for your skin and hair that I think you will be interested in.
