4 Things to do during a snow day

You wake up at 6am in a sea of duvet and pillows. You take a deep breath, close your eyes and pray…let it be a snow day! You get the message on your phone, you checked the news. You get the day off. But now what?

Ah, snow days. As kids, snow days were better than birthdays! Equipped with parkas, snow pants, boots and mittens we brace the snow and make the best of our day off school.

Now that we are a little bit older, we see snow days as just days of confinement and unbearable boredom (but hey, we’re still excited about that day off school). Time to quit being a Negative Nancy!

Here’s 4 ways to make snow days fun again:

1. Indulge in outdoor winter activities

I know I know, “but it’s so cold outside.” Suck it up, bundle up, and you will have no excuses! The beauty of a snow day is, well, snow is everywhere! With the right gear, you can enjoy yourself by just stepping out of your door; whether it be your backyard or your local neighborhood park, there is always something to do. Get creative and build a snowman or a snow mansion! Maybe even challenge your competitive skills with a snowball fight.

Invite a friend and sled down the biggest hill you can find with this double Snow Flite sled. Be careful around trees!

2. Watch Netflix

Finding it hard to find down time to enjoy a couple flicks and watch your favourite series? When was the last time you did a Netflix purge? With all this extra time off on your hands, why not spoil yourself by snuggling onto your couch, making some hot cocoa and popping some popcorn because now is your chance!

3. Warm up with some ramen

Nothing’s better on cold snow days than the hot comforting taste of ramen. You may not be in the mood to trek to a ramen bar amidst the neck-deep snow, why not make it yourself? Admit it. If you are a student, you probably have ramen packages as a staple in your pantry.

But ramen doesn’t have to be boring. Here are 7 ways to add a twist to your instant ramen noodles.

4. Soak up in a hot bath

Snow days are a great opportunity to give yourself a break. What better way to relax than to to sit in a tub full of hot steamy goodness. With your favourite book in hand and a couple candles lit, you’ll surely get rid of the pre and post snowday stress to come. But for now take the cake (figuratively and even literally) and spoil yourself with a nice, hot, relaxing bath. And smell good doing it too!
